Image appears in the 1962 Annual Report with the caption, "A less pretentious but highly purposeful machine is this electromyograph. Another neurological diagnostic instrument, it is used to study diseases of the "motor unit" such as infections, trauma, degeneration, or metabolic disorders of the motor nerve cells int he spinal cord, and their peripheral connection to the muscles of the human body. It is helpful in evaluation causes of weakness related to polio, neuritis, slipped disc, severed or damaged nerves, myositis, myasthenia gravis, and muscular dystrophy."
