Abstract

Chlorophyll a was measured about twice a month for one year at three surface stations along the axis of Alligator Harbor, Florida; additional observations were made at stations along Tampa Bay and elsewhere in the coastal waters of the eastern Gulf of Mexico. The greatest concentrations, toward the head of the estuaries studied, were probably associated with low dispersal rates and with mixing of benthic forms into the plankton of shallow water....
