Abstract

A simplified model is considered in order to describe the dynamics of outflows of rivers or sea straits located at or near the equator. The model is steady, frictionless aod nondiffusive but the motions are not constrained to be quasigeostrophic. The geometry of the oceanic basin into which the outflow debouches is approximated by a wedge and the vertical structure of the flow is represented by two layers of different densities.
