Abstract
Historical temperature and salinity data from the Charlie-Gibbs Fracture Zone, including some 100 occupations of OWS "Charlie" between 1964 and 1973, have been examined. The spatial distribution of the value of the deep salinity maximum is consistent with the core of Iceland-Scotland overflow water passing westward through the Fracture Zone in the depth interval 2500 to 3000 m....
