Abstract
A theoretical investigation is made of the wind as the possible cause of equatorial undercurrent. A uniform wind is allowed to stress a finite-depth ocean of infinite extent. All latitudinal current variations are β effects. The singular behavior of the flow is studied equatorward from midlatitudes.
