Abstract
An in expensive bathythermograph comprising an expendable, radio-telemetering buoy and the associated shipboard apparatus is described, and some of the problems to be encountered in its development are considered briefly. Estimates of attainable specifications of an operational buoy, based on experience gained in the development of a crude laboratory model, are also presented.
