Abstract
The fundamental notion of statistical mean values in fluid mechanics was first introduced by Reynolds (1894). In his description of the turbulent motion he started from the molecular disorder. By considering the mean value and correlations in the molecular motion, as it was shown before, one obtains the equation of Stokes-Navier (1845, 1822).
