Science Stories: A Linked-Data Application Used to Curate the Work of Women Scientists

Science Stories is a linked data application powered by structured data that brings scientific work into social spaces. It leverages linked open data, the International Image Interoperability Framework, the Wikidata knowledge base, and semantic web technologies to demonstrate a vision of what getting scientific work products and scientific information into social spaces can do. The novel combination of conceptual and technical infrastructure allows users to explicitly connect these science stories to reference materials. It curates the lives of women scientists whose scholarly contributions have been historically underrepresented, and in some cases, not even told yet on the web.
