339 patients treated last year. 21 surgical operations. Daily average of patients is 38 patients. $5.22 average cost per week per patient. 11 soldiers from the Connecticut regiments remain in the hospital.
Dr. N. B. Ives secretary from 1830 to 1835 and many years an attending consulting physician died this past year. Samuel Punderson, a former director, also died.
Male wards have been crowded this past year. Call to expand the hospital’s accommodations. Only other place for treatment of the poor would be the Alms House. Call for more space and more money. Need for renovating some of the wards, and to provide updated surgical equipment and an operating table.
