On back, "Electronic Monitoring in the Hospital Labor Room. In the new fetal intensive care unit at the Yale-New Haven Medical Center, the heart rate of an unborn baby is measured continuously in the precarious period just before delivery. Abnormal heart rate patterns, recorded by the monitor at right, warn doctors of possible danger to fetus. Here, Dr. Richard H. Paul, director of the new unit and Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Yale School of Medicine, attends obstetrical patient during monitored labor."
