Description
Air raid precautions at New Haven Hospital during World War II. Description with photograph: Sand is an effective way to smother incendiaries. Bucketful from larger reserve barrels of sand located at strategic positions through the hospital is dumped near the bomb. Men trained to act quickly and informed on how to protect themselves use long handle shovels to pour the sand over the incendiary.
