Comments

In 1953 the Memorial Unit was completed and opened with a 750 bed capacity. A Women’s Auxiliary was organized on May 19, 1952. The Department of Public relations was formed. Nursing shortage. The staffs of the previously combined Grace and New Haven Hospitals now working as one in the new Memorial Building. The hospital has 1,400 full time and 130 part-time employees. The Dietary Department has replaced the Nursing Staff to serve food from the pantries. New kitchen in the Memorial Unit. Joint declaration of policy by Yale University and the Grace-New Haven Community Hospital in 1952. Work begun on the consolidation of laboratories.
