A book review is presented for A Veil of Silence: Women and Sound in Renaissance Italy, authored by Julia Rombough, by Colleen Reardon.

Author Biography

Colleen Reardon is Professor of Music, emeritus, at the University of California, Irvine, and past President of the Society for Seventeenth-Century Music. She has received a Fulbright Fellowship and two grants from the National Endowment of the Humanities to pursue her work in Italian archives and is the author of three books on musical culture in Siena from the sixteenth through the eighteenth centuries.
