Abstract
This paper presents an exact analytical solution in closed form for a steady, laminar model of the oceanic thermocline. The model includes vertical diffusion and horizontal and vertical convection of heat. The solution satisfies boundary conditions that are in fair agreement with observation over the range of latitude 10° to 45°.
